As a person approaches midlife, there are certainly many physical issues that all of a sudden become a focus of attention. One of these is the skin.

As one grows older, they suddenly become conscious of the fact that their skin is beginning to show more lines, more wrinkles, more age! What to do? Is it too late to remove those unwanted lines?

It is quite important to note that proper skin care begins with adopting a routine. Certainly not just any routine, but one that is disciplined. Here is a very simple skin care routine that you, regardless of your age, can adopt.

Menopause is often identified as a female condition. It might even come as a surprise to many that menopause is experienced by men too. In fact there is even a name for it--andropause.

Male menopause occurs usually late in the midlife stage, between fifty and sixty years of age. The signs and symptoms are very similar to what women go through. It is quite important therefore that in order to cope with it, one must be informed of such symptoms.
Continue reading "Looking Out For Male Menopause Symptoms"

For a lot of people, the stress level in their lives become directly proportional to their age. This means that as they get older, their stress level goes up too. Some experts cite this as one of the causes of midlife crisis.

One of the side effects of too much stress is weight gain. It's not uncommon for some people in their midlife stage to eat uncontrollably as a result of their daily stress. In order to put a stop to this, they should determine the root of their stress. It may be due to their lifestyle, personal problems, additional workload at the office, etc.

It may be easier for some to get to the bottom of their problem, but it may not be as easy for others. If it's already hard enough to cope with the ton of work, how does one expect to take the time to sort their problems out? Fair enough. So we'd like to offer some ways to keep your weight under control while you deal with your stresses.
Continue reading "Gaining Weight Due To Stress"

Is that possible? Has the author finally lost it? Fun with stress? No way.

Way!

You've probably heard it a thousand times before, the people who thrive under pressure. They only come up with their best work if they are buried under a ton of stress. It's not a myth, and it sure as heck isn't unachievable. It's just a matter of mental outlook and perspective.

So with that theme, let's proceed with the fun part. You've probably seen these pictures before in another website. In fact, I'm not even sure as to their authenticity but if not for anything else, I found them to take a chunk of my daily stress away. So here is picture number 1. After looking at it, click "continue" to look at the other pictures.
Depending on who you ask, depression is sometimes viewed as a temporary condition while others consider it a very serious disorder. Some say that depression only happens during puberty, others say it is the condition that defines midlife crisis, and still for some, it is a condition that only affects women.

The truth of the matter is, depression is not gender-selective. Depression affects men equally as it affects women. The problem is that male depression is seldom diagnosed. And because it is not brought to the attention of qualified professionals who can help, there is a trend for fatalities resulting from depression to be higher among men.
Continue reading "Men's Depression: A Potentially Fatal Condition"

When a man reaches his midlife stage, specifically when he reaches age forty, he may suddenly experience episodes of confusion and/or extraordinary stress. As a result his self-esteem may slip a bit. Sudden feelings of inadequacy and an unwillingness to try new things may also arise.

If you or anyone you know are exhibiting any of these symptoms, then understand that this is not something out of the ordinary. Even if that offers small comfort, men should accept the fact they too undergo a menopausal stage just like women.

Yes gentlemen, there is indeed a male version of menopause whether you like it or not.
Continue reading "Understanding And Handling Male Menopause"

The thought of aging usually starts to creep in the moment a person reaches their midlife point. The thought becomes just a little bit more nagging when the body begins to send us little subtle messages. These messages may be when you look in the mirror and the person staring back at you isn't as pleasing anymore; or maybe when you wake up in the morning with a little bit more aches and pains here and there.

The thing is, aging doesn't have to be a burden. One can probably look at it as another door being opened to lead us into another place and another adventure. And certainly the effects of aging can be mitigated by doing some things right like leading a healthy lifestyle, getting more involved in your community, joining clubs, exercising, and dieting. One of the recent diet plans that many consider as being beneficial to aging is the pH diet plan.
Continue reading "Aging Gracefully By Understanding Your Body's pH"

Do you find that you are easily forgetful now that you're in your midlife? As the body begins to wear down, this is not uncommon. Although sometimes being forgetful can be trivial, people in their midlives should be mindful that the condition does not continue to get worse.

Nowadays, professionals are working to determine the benefits of a regular exercise regimen in improving cognition and reducing normal memory loss. This is so that they can better determine what specific exercises can be prescribed to improve memory. In the meantime, we don't have to reminded that physical activity does reduce stress which may be a contributor to cognitive malfunction. And those who are suffering some form of stress that's a result of being in a state of midlife crisis, exercise can certainly help in alleviating the cause of your forgetfulness.
Continue reading "Exercise Helps Boost Memory"

More and more, science is finding connections between behavior and diet. Recent studies have introduced dietary questions as compared to those previously done which focused mostly on emotions. This new technique is beginning to yield important new clues about the immune system.

One of the most significant studies done in recent years suggest that diets supplemented with omega-3 helps to decrease the risk of the onset of depression. Omega-3 are are polyunsaturated fatty acid which can be converted into eicosapentanoic acid (EPA) and docosahexanoic acid (DHA). One of the most common consequence of being in a state of midlife crisis is depression. Depression can be described as a general feeling of deep sadness. More often than not, it interferes with the daily activities of a person.

Some people become depressed for only a short time. This kind of condition may not even be depression per se but just a state of "feeling low". This may be due to the death of a close friend or a pet.

Others experience depression over an extended period of time. To make matters worse, these people may not even be able to explain exactly why they are feeling this way. Here are some signs that may help you out in case you or someone you know appear to fall into this category.
